Ahab, Jehoshaphat, and a Band of Lying Prophets

Episode Summary

In this week's episode, I tell the story of Ahab and Jehoshaphat's alliance against Aram/Syria and its consequences.

Episode Notes

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of The Bible You Thought You Knew.

Today, I will be tackling a tale featuring Ahab, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah. In the middle of the ordeal are also a group of prophets loyal to the Israelite court, and Micaiah ben Imlah, the one prophet who goes against the grain.

This story starts with an unusual alliance between Israel and Judah against Aram/Syria.

When this happens, the prophets' opinion is unanimous: They want the two kings to go to war.

However, one other prophet, Micaiah ben Imlah, disagrees, and accuses the royal prophets of lying.

What are the consequences of this turn of events? Let's find out together!
